Burna Boy continues to rack in the international awards! The controversial singer, living up to his nickname, ‘African Giant’ became the second Nigerian to win two BET awards.

Burna Boy

At the award show hosted on Sunday, June 28, 2020, by actress, comedian, author, VJ and DJ, Amanda Seales, Burna was announced as the winner of the ‘Best International Act’.

He was nominated in the Best International Act after the massive success of his fourth album, ‘African Giant’. The other nominees in the category include Innoss’B (DRC), Sho Madjozi (South Africa), Dave (UK), Stormzy (UK), Ninho (France) and S.Pri Noir (France).

It is the second time he will win a BET Award in this category. Interestingly, he was nominated for his “African Giant” album earlier this year at the Grammys.

He received the award saying, “Thank you very much, BET. Second time and I appreciate it. I will like to use this opportunity to say that sometime around 1835, there was admission to turn the nation of Africa into a dominated nation. Now is the time to return and go back to the royalty that we were because in order for black lives to matter, Africa must matter.”

Congratulations are in order for the 28-year-old artiste who’s making Nigeria proud and creating new paths for other Nigerian artists. We hope that there will be many more hits, more impact made and many more wins for Burna Boy!

You can catch the repeat of the BET Awards on BET Africa (DStv Channel 129) at 7 PM tonight.
